Brand Profile - G-Shock

We stock a massive and varied selection of G-Shock watches so we thought we would let you know a little bit more about the brand.

G-Shock are made by Casio and were originally designed for sportsmen and professionals who required a high quality durable watch that would survive all environments and as such all G-Shocks are durable and waterproof. The first G-Shock was launched in 1983 designed by Casio engineer Kikuo Ibe who tested the watch to the very limits and created the high resilient designs we see today. Featuring ten protective layers which protect from shock, harm and water damage the outer layer is made up of rubber to protect the steal uppers from scratch.

G-Shock are constantly launching new models as well as updating existing ones, you just need to look at the ubiquitous popularity of G-Shock's baby G in the 90s to see the enduring popularity of there new designs. Working off the durable designs G-Shock have evolved into lots of different styles and colours with the new black/gold combination being particularly popular. We stock a massive range of styles, price ranges and colours so take the time to look through them and you are sure to find one for you.

Wood Wood - Autumn/Winter 2014 'Heroes' Collection

Swedish brand Wood Wood was established in 2002 by co-founders Karl-Oskar Olsen and Brian SS Jensen. The pair grew up with the graffiti and street culture of the late 80's - 90's which serves as inspiration for the brands signature style which manages to seamlessly blend style and functionality.

The latest collection, the Autumn/Winter 2014 'Heroes' collection, from Wood Wood sticks to this motif and is inspired by the 1961 British/American war film 'Guns of Navarone' along with the movies from that era, the war movies of the 50s and 60s. The uniforms and make do and mend ethos of the era inspire the collection which sees classic silhouettes and styles mixed with modern materials. The colours are muted in keeping with the military theme and the collection features lots of taping, sealed seams and performance inspired detailing.

Take a look at the lookbook images below:

The collection will be dropping in store this week and will follow online shortly after.

Nike Air 180 "Safari Sole" Pack

Dropping instore from the Nike Air 180 "Safari Sole" Pack is the black colourway pictured above.

Nike regularly bring back reworked versions from their back catalogue but this is one we were really looking forward to. While the materials mimic a 1987 runner and feature ostrich panelling on the heel panels and the iconic safari print on the midsole the colourway gets an update with hues of bright teal complimenting the black base and a contrasting reddish pink tick.

It's been a while since the last Air Max 180 came back so these are not to be missed. They are available in store and will be online shortly.

Commonwealth - Eating Out

With the commonwealth officially kicking off today we have selected some of our favourite Glasgow eateries for you to enjoy over the next two weeks. While there are loads of great and different places to eat in Glasgow we have made a small section of some of the ones we hope to enjoy over the Commonwealth.

Bread Meats Bread:

With more and more great burger places opening up just now it's hard to choose a favourite but in walking distance of us is the great Bread Meats Bread. Along with your classic burgers you can also get current favourites like pulled pork and gourmet hotdogs along with brilliant sweet fries, all at pretty affordable prices. The place is always packed so you should make use of the lunchtime takeaway menu which consists of all meals with fries for £6 or £7, 12-3pm, Mon-Thu.

Address: 104 St Vincent Street, Glasgow G2 5UB
Main menu pictures below:

The Fish Plaice:

Another place we are looking forward to eating is the pop-up bar and kitchen from renowned Glasgow fishmongers The Fish Plaice. Open from the 18th July - 3rd of August in the courtyard of the Salt Market the menu looks ideal for anyone who loves fish. Just take a look at the food above to see what we're looking forward too.

Address: 1 St Andrews Street, Glasgow G1 5PB
Main menu pictures below:

Just opened and also in walking distance of us is new kid on the block, Mexican restaurant Topolabamba. Glasgow can't seem to get enough of burgers and Mexican food right now and Topolobamba has a great menu offering streetfood and sharing platters more close to traditional Mexican food than you will find anywhere else.

Address: 89 St Vincent Street, Glasgow G2 5TF
See menu here.

Formerly The Ivy, Distill is a bar and restaurant which in addition to running great nights and serving quality cocktails also offers great food. The menu is relatively simple but the food is top quality and rivals some of the far more expensive restaurants in the West End with a much better atmosphere. They also offer a great lunch menu which is 2 for £10.

Address: 1102 - 1106 Argylle Street, Finnieston, Glasgow G3 7RX
See menu here.
