Who York?

Zoo York that's who!

Last week I done a wee feature on one of my favourite brands, The Hundreds. This week it's my second favourite brand we sell in Fat Buddha, Zoo York.

Beginning in the 70's in the 'Undesputed center of the universe', New York City by a tight crew of progressive minds with creative energy started the name. The original artists built a thriving scene of graffiti, skateboarding, banging tunes and complete originality. By the 80's Zoo York was symbolizing NYCs underground artists, b-boys, skateboarders and all the similar off-shoots.
In 1993, OG skateboarders Rodney Smith, Eli Morgan Gessner and Adam Schatz teamed up to found the East Coast's first true skateboarding-inspired lifestyle brand, Zoo York. Created to be dark and gritty, like New York City they created culturally relevant products from skateboarding, hip hop and graffiti scenes. Designed to withstand the city's rugged terrain Zoo York grew into a fully fledged streetwear collection.

Today, Zoo York is a highly evolved, globally recognized brand with unbreakable East Coast attitude and dialect. Continuing to be heavily influenced by skateboarding, hip-hop, graffiti and everything in between. They are also still backed by the 'Zoo Crew' featuring artists, musicians, designers, new and old skateboarders as well as some of the biggest names in BMX and surf industries.

The Zoo York Blog features skateboarding very heavily so make sure you check it out if you are into skating. Full of cool little features. I also found some VERY cool decks that they have made as well as some awesome trainers!

We do stock a load of Zoo York clothing, mainly T-shirts here in Fat Buddha too...

Lastly I found a couple of excellent Zoo York video's. The BMX race featuring the epic BMW jump and the horribly brilliant, throwing Zoo York logo tagged cockroaches on passers by... Amazing.
