Happy Birthday Mr Roger Hargreaves

Those of you using Google as your default home page will have had the pleasure of turning on your comouter to be greeted by a selection of Mr Men doodles designed to celebrate the 76th birthday of Roger Hargreaves the creator of Mr Men and Little Miss characters.

The first of the Mr Men characters is said have been created when Hargreaves’ son Adam asked his father what a tickle looked like. The cartoonist drew a round orange body with long arms.

The first Mr Men book went on sale in 1971 and features Mr Bump, Greedy, Happy, Nosey, Sneeze and Tickle. In one year they sold more than a million copies and now in their 40th year, they have sold more than 100 million copies in 28 countries.
