Vans!

Image
So last week we began receiving some new styles for the store. There's still more to come, but here's a peak of what we've got so far... First off is the classic Half Cab. A shoe we've done before at Fat Buddha, but not in this new colourway - Also known as the "Style 33", the was Steve Cabellero's signature shoe, originally released by Vans in 1991.  Considered to be one of the most legendary skate shoes of all time, the Half Cab is worn by an entire generation of pros who redefined street skating. These are available online HERE! Next up is the 106 Vulcanised, a newbee to the Fat Buddha Family! In all black suede with the classic waffle sole, this shoe is not only a skate classic that dates back to 1966 and the beginning of Vans time but in this colourway it is also super versitile, being able to dress up or dress down - a staple pair of vans for your collection. Available here! And last, but not least, is an old favourite - the slip on.  Relea

Last Day

Image
So the time has finally come... After nearly 4 years of working in Fat Buddha I must leave to chase my dream of becoming a photographer. I will still be working there, doing website photography and helping out but I will no longer be working in the shop. Sad times... Met tonnes of cool people, a few famous people and even made a few good new friends so thank you all for the banter and the good times! I also learned 1 important lesson... Graffiti is cool If you are about Glasgow today come and say hello or goodbye and if not and you want to keep in touch I use Flickr , Twitter and Facebook and all the rest of them. So please visit my website , there are tabs to them all on the main page and add me as you see fit. Also expect to see me randomly blogging on the Fat Buddha blog still with my injections of geeky nonsense. So I will simply say... ... And leave you with The Last Song... Original Sin

Image
So I went home last night to find the latest issue of Front Magazine , the best magazine out there at the moment, lying on my floor waiting for me. I had a wee quick glance through and noticed they had featured the Amos toys that we sell in Fat Buddha ! So that got me paying more attention to the pages that didn't have naked girls on them and I came across an exclusive... The Cult of Original Sin - A new clothing line that has just launched by amazing UK artist Godmachine. Here is his 'about me' statement... I can't re-write it without loosing something... "So the story goes, it all started with sin and it’s been a slippery slope ever since… thank fuck for that, because we were born bad and life would be nothing without it. Original Sin is about more than style and fashion, we’ve got strong ideas about living, loving and the many different roads to fulfillment-it’s a philosophy, our way of life. We draw inspiration from every from every darkened corner of

Who York?

Image
Zoo York that's who! Last week I done a wee feature on one of my favourite brands, The Hundreds. This week it's my second favourite brand we sell in Fat Buddha, Zoo York . Beginning in the 70's in the 'Undesputed center of the universe', New York City by a tight crew of progressive minds with creative energy started the name. The original artists built a thriving scene of graffiti, skateboarding, banging tunes and complete originality. By the 80's Zoo York was symbolizing NYCs underground artists, b-boys, skateboarders and all the similar off-shoots. In 1993, OG skateboarders Rodney Smith, Eli Morgan Gessner and Adam Schatz teamed up to found the East Coast's first true skateboarding-inspired lifestyle brand, Zoo York. Created to be dark and gritty, like New York City they created culturally relevant products from skateboarding, hip hop and graffiti scenes. Designed to withstand the city's rugged terrain Zoo York grew into a fully fledged streetwea

Tattoo.

Tomorrow I go down south to the annual Brighton Tattoo Convention. Working non-stop i'm really looking forward to it. The event is usually a good laugh whether you're getting tattooed or not, and one of my best mates owns his own shop so it will be good to go see him. If you're even a casual fan of tattoos you should get yourself this book from Taschen: The book covers all sorts of styles and has big photo examples of many greats in the fields work. Available instore now for £8.99 Fraser.

Black Fly x Risk x Smash 137 Mural

This video captures a three-way collaborative mural, painted in Miami for the most recent “Art Basel” art fair. Filmed by and created for Black Fly, the artwork was created by graffiti artists Risk and Smash 137. Originally dubbed Can Massacre by Smash due to the fact that cans were brutally cut to make the work, you will see the way in which paint flew freely across the piece to produce a carefree image, inspired by the attitudes of the artists. Hundreds About The Hundreds

Image
The Hundreds has always been one of my favourite brands in Fat Buddha. So today I went on a little mission to find out more about them. Till now I just thought they wear a company that makes amazing Tshirts but I was wrong... They go far deeper than that! The Hundreds was founded in 2003 by Ben and Bowasbby Hundreds as a clothing line and online-magazine incorporating the trademark attitude and personal perspective they have on street culture. The Hundreds apparel is inspired by US lifestyle and culture, predominantly the Los Angeles and Californa states. With a heavy focus on Southern California’s skateboarding, surf, punk, and hip-hop cultures. The designs are also reminiscent of 1980s surf-culture t-shirts, independent skateboard company apparel of the 1990s, and the advent of “streetwear” at the end of the millennium. The line is comprised mainly of graphic t-shirts, denim, wovens, fleece, outerwear, headwear and accessories. Then in 2008, The Hundreds branched out and laun
