Kaws Companion arrives at 30th Street Station In Philadelphia

Image
One of our favourite artists here at Fat Buddha Store has to be New York City based Kaws . He began his career as a graffiti artist growing up in Jersey City, New Jersey. Later moving to New York City in the 1990s. KAWS started subverting imagery on billboards, bus shelters and phone booth advertisements. These reworked advertisements were at first left alone, lasting for up to several months, but as KAWS’ popularity skyrocketed, the ads became increasingly sought after. Moving on some years he has collaborated with some of the best brands around, such as Nike , Vans Comme Des Garcon, Medicom , Original Fake and many more and produced some of the most recognisable characters and pieces of art. In addition to New York, KAWS has done work in Paris, London, Berlin , Tokyo and all around the globe. Hottie of the Week - Melanie Iglesias!

Image
This weeks hottie is American model Melanie Iglesias! Now I'm not even gonna try and pretend that I know who Melanie Iglesias is, because quite frankly, I don't, what I do know however is she turned up to the MTV Movie Awards looking absoloutely amazing in a rather revealing dress! After some borderline creepy google searching, I did manage to find out that she is from Brooklyn, apparently dates a guy from the Jersey Shore, stars on an MTV show called 'Guy Code' and looks outrageously good in a red bikini....what else do you really need to know?       We also uncovered a video of her with a hula hoop....its good....watch it...

Record Store Day

Image
Today is Record Store Day, and what a great day it is. The day first came into being in 2007 when over 700 independent stores in the USA came together to celebrate their unique culture. The UK followed suit and 2013 will see the sixth celebration of the UK's unique independent sector. This is the one day that all of the independently owned record stores come together with artists to celebrate the art of music. Special vinyl and CD releases and various promotional products are made exclusively for the day and hundreds of artists across the globe make special appearances and performances. Festivities include performances, meet & greets with artists, DJ's, in store quizzes and many other events. In Glasgow we are lucky to have some great independent stores such as Rubadub, Monorail and Avalanche , who have great events and guest DJ's playing in store today. Rubadub kick things off with their in store party featuring Container (Live), Trevino, Edit Select, Lo
