Image
Felix Da Housecat will be tearing up Glasgow’s Berkeley Suite tonight (23rd November) for another set of house music and electroclash. His reinterpretation of songs by Pet Shop Boys, Kylie Minogue and Nina Simone has made him one of the most dominant remixers and producers on the planet. Going Out - Daniele Baldelli at The Berkeley Suite

Image
This Saturday night (Sat 16th Nov) legendary DJ and producer Daniele Baldelli takes control of the music in one of Glasgow's most intimate  and greatest clubs The Berkeley Suite for this rare special appearance. The self-titled “oldest DJ in Italy”, is the founding father of the Cosmic disco sound. His creative blend of disco, funk, jazz, synth pop, reggae, electronic music, and African and Brazilian records – often played slower or faster – introduced many club-goers to a new mix of rhythm and sound. Hailing from the town of Cattolica in Northern Italy, Daniele made his DJ debut at 17 at local clubs Tana and Tabu, before graduating to the seminal Baia Degli Angeli, a glamorous VIP club whose DJ booth was in a glass elevator. This led to Daniele’s long residency at the Cosmic club by Lake Garda that opened in Italy in 1979. At this infamous, hedonistic club Baldelli would be simultaneously spinning, triggering drum machines and samplers, blending batucada samba with Kr

Koreless X Ghospoet - What Moves You

Image
Glasgow's very own Koreless has teamed up with another pioneer of the London art scene Ghostpoet to produce a collaborative piece of work focusing on the question "What Moves You ?". Supported by Levi's throughout the project film director Alex Turvey joined these two seminal producers to document the creative process and provide the visual aspect of this musical endeavor. Differing from any other screening of a collaborative series, this topic of exploration was not the most restrictive for the artists giving them the ultimate oppertunity to explore this modern frontier of music - what is the driving force behind young musicians in the UK?   Being natural city bred artists the trio took the idea to push forward the exploration of nature in their musical drive, instead of working in a studio the trio took a trek to the North of Wales, Mount Snowdon to be specific, filming a piece on the hillside and Koreless capturing the surrounding sounds. Taking their

Image
A Love From Outer Space drops into Glasgow tonight (Friday 8th November) for it's Bi-Monthly residency at one of Glasgow's great club spaces The Berkeley Suite with residents Andrew Weatherall and Sean Johnston behind the controls. Beginning in 2010 in a residency within the intimate neo-dinge of Stoke Newington’s The Waiting Room, A Love from Outer Space was originally brought together by the advent of an excitement held for sounds situated within the mid-tempo frame; a lower BPM statute which has accented the astral, the headlong and the brawny, melding disco’s drive and glossy gestures, the cosmic glints of kosmische, thunderous dub-sonority, and intrepid post-punk bombast with proto-house and that of acid-house; the background of perennial residents and night owners, Andrew Weatherall and Sean Johnston. The pair held a mutual regard for Adrian Sherwood records and moved in the same circles for a number of years before ‘the oasis of slowness’, offered by AL
